Ant-Man and The Wasp
The first general outreach paper I worked on–Ant-Man and The Wasp: Microscale Respiration and Microfluidic Technology–was a blast to write (with my advisor, Dr. Anne Staples), and was really my first taste of science communication. A few news outlets including Ars Technica actually picked up the story, which was incredibly exciting. The first question most people ask is whether we got funding to work on this–we definitely did not; this work was entirely on our own dime!
The Nutshell Games
This talk was a part of the Nutshell Games, which were put on by the Virginia Tech Center for Communicating Science. Participants were required to explain their work in 90 seconds or less to a panel of eight judges including Virginia Tech alumni and two seventh grade students from local schools.
